What is Rotate PDF?

Rotate PDF is a free browser-based PDF tool from Farvixo that lets you turn pages 90, 180 or 270 degrees — all pages or only the sideways ones. It runs entirely on your own device using WebAssembly, so the document is never uploaded to a server. There is no sign-up, no watermark on the output and no cap on how many documents you process.

How to use Rotate PDF

1Open the PDF

Drop in the file. The page count is read straight away so you know what you are working with.

2Pick the rotation

Choose 90° clockwise, 180° or 90° anticlockwise. Leave the page field blank to turn everything, or list the pages that are wrong — "2, 4-6" — when only some pages came out sideways.

3Download

The rotation is written into the file, so it stays right in every viewer, on every device and in print.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does rotating in my PDF viewer not stick?

Most viewers rotate the display only and never touch the file, so the next person to open it sees the original orientation. This writes the rotation into the page itself, which is why it survives being emailed, printed or opened somewhere else.

What if only some pages are sideways?

List them — "2, 4-6" — and the rest are left alone. This is the usual case with a scan where a few pages went through the feeder the wrong way round.

Does rotating twice cancel out?

No. Each rotation is added to what the page already carries, so applying 90° twice leaves the page at 180°. That is what you want when a page arrived already rotated and still needs turning.

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Rotation is a page property, not a re-render — the content is untouched and the file size barely changes. Nothing is re-compressed, so scans and photos stay exactly as sharp as they were.

Will the text still be selectable?

Yes. Because nothing is rasterised, text stays text, links stay links and any OCR layer stays intact.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

If it opens without a password prompt, yes. A PDF that requires a password to open cannot be modified until it is unlocked, which is by design.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The PDF is loaded, rotated and saved in your browser. Nothing is transmitted.

Tips for better results

  • Check the page count and orientation in the preview before you download — reordering afterwards means starting over.
  • If a PDF refuses to open, it is usually password-protected; remove the password first, then re-run this tool.
  • Very large PDFs are limited by your device memory, not by an upload cap. Splitting a 500-page file into parts is faster than processing it whole.

Common problems and how to fix them

The PDF will not load

The file is encrypted or was produced by a non-standard writer. Open it in a PDF reader, print it back to PDF, and try again.

Text comes out garbled or as boxes

The PDF has no embedded font or no text layer at all. A scanned page needs OCR first — use PDF OCR, then re-run this tool.

The browser tab becomes unresponsive

The document is larger than the available memory. Close other tabs, or split the PDF and process it in sections.
