What are security tools?
Security tools generate and verify hashes, checksums and encoded values, and check passwords and certificates. Every one of them processes input locally in your browser and logs nothing — which is the only acceptable design for a tool handling values you would not want a third party to see.

Frequently Asked Questions
My checksum does not match the one the publisher listed. What now?
First confirm you are comparing the same algorithm — a SHA-256 hash will never match a published MD5. If the algorithm matches, re-download the file: a truncated or interrupted download changes the hash. If it still differs, do not run the file.
Is MD5 still safe to use?
Only for detecting accidental corruption. MD5 and SHA-1 are both cryptographically broken — deliberate collisions are practical — so neither should be used to verify that a file has not been tampered with. Use SHA-256 for that.
Why does the same text give a different hash elsewhere?
Usually a trailing newline or a different character encoding. Hashing functions operate on exact bytes, so an invisible difference produces a completely different result.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
For almost every tool, no. Processing runs inside your browser using WebAssembly, so the file never leaves your device. The exception is the AI tools, which must send your text to a language model to get an answer back — those tool pages say so explicitly rather than claiming privacy they cannot offer.
