## What is Video Merger?

Video Merger is a free browser-based video tool from Farvixo that lets you join multiple videos into one file. It uses an in-browser FFmpeg build compiled to WebAssembly, so even large clips are processed on your own machine and never uploaded. No account, no watermark and no per-file size limit imposed by a server.

## Specifications

| Property | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Tool | Video Merger — Video Tools |
| Purpose | Join multiple videos into one file |
| Input | One or more files (MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, MKV) |
| Output | Video file in the selected container and codec |
| Processing | In your browser — files are never uploaded to a server |
| Price | Free, unlimited, no account required |
| Limitations | Bounded by your device's memory and CPU rather than a server quota; very large files may be slow on older hardware |

## How to use Video Merger

1. **Load your video** — Select a video file in Video Merger. Conversion happens in your browser using WebAssembly, so even large files never get uploaded anywhere.
2. **Pick format and quality** — Choose the output format, resolution and bitrate — or start from a ready-made preset if you are not sure what to pick.
3. **Convert and save** — Start the conversion and watch the progress bar; longer clips take a little time because the work runs on your own machine. Download when it finishes.

## Use cases

- Getting a clip under the size limit for WhatsApp, Gmail, Discord or a course upload
- Converting a recording to a format a specific player, editor or platform accepts
- Editors who want a quick change without opening a full desktop suite
- Handling confidential footage that must not be uploaded to an online converter

## Tips

- Processing speed depends on your own CPU, since the work is local. A laptop on battery-saver will be noticeably slower.
- H.264 (MP4) is the safest choice for compatibility; VP9 or AV1 give smaller files but decode slowly on older devices.
- Leave the tab open and visible — a backgrounded tab gets throttled by the browser and the encode will crawl.

## Common problems

- **The encode is very slow** — Everything runs on your device rather than a server farm. Pick a lower resolution or a faster preset, keep the tab in the foreground, and close other heavy tabs.
- **The output has no sound** — The chosen container cannot carry the source audio codec — WebM cannot hold AAC, for example. Re-encode the audio instead of copying the stream.
- **The browser ran out of memory** — The clip is too large to hold in memory. Trim it into shorter segments and process them one at a time.

## FAQ

### Do the clips need the same resolution?

They do not have to be, but mixing them means everything is re-encoded to a common size, which takes longer and costs a little quality. Clips that already match in resolution, frame rate and codec join almost instantly.

### Why is the audio out of sync after merging?

Usually a frame-rate mismatch between clips, or a source with variable frame rate — phone recordings often are. Normalising to a constant frame rate during the merge fixes it.

### Can I set the order?

Yes. Drag the clips into the order you want before merging; they are joined exactly as listed.

### Is there a limit on how many videos?

No. Since processing is local there is no server-imposed cap — only what your device can hold in memory while working.

### Is there a quality loss when merging?

None if the clips share codec, resolution and frame rate — the streams are copied. Mismatched clips must be re-encoded to a common format, which costs a little.
