### How do I remove GST from an inclusive price?

Divide, do not subtract. At 18%, divide the gross by 1.18 to get the net. Subtracting 18% from the gross gives a different and incorrect figure — this is the single most common GST mistake.

### What is the CGST and SGST split?

For a sale within a state, the total GST is divided equally between central and state GST — 18% becomes 9% CGST and 9% SGST. For an inter-state sale it is a single IGST of the full 18% instead.

### Which GST rate applies to my product?

Rates are set per category — commonly 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% or 28%. Only the official HSN or SAC classification for your goods or services determines it. Check the current schedule rather than assuming; rates do change.
